What's up with Social Media?

Hey lovely brides and wedding couples!

So what is up with social media? I’ve never been a savy social media person, have never been insta-famous, went viral on tiktok or any of that jazz, but I have enjoyed growing a solid instagram following of over 10k in the past few years. I’ve mainly used that to showcase our work for future clients. Unfortunately there’s been a few things going on that have caused me to rethink what social media means for Alea Beauty in 2025. Let’s get into it:

1) Technology is hard:
So this past fall I was traveling in Scotland and dropped my phone. No big deal right, wrong! This caused my screen to break and when trying to replace it it, The Apple Store saw damage to the front camera that operates Face ID. This essentially mad my phone useless as I couldn’t open any apps or access my saved passwords. After multiple atte, mtps and 5 hours waiting around the Edinbrugh Apple store, they decided to order me a new phone. I go back a week later to pick it up and do to two factor authorizations and being in a foreign country then my phone plan, I basically lost a lot of infor, ation and passwords. Long story short, I was locked out of Instagram.

2) Enter TikTok:
Frustrated with the whole Meta-verse and just no luck logging in to any of my accounts, I decided to create a TikTok account, I had one there that I rarely used and deleted last year so had to start fresh. This was a big chore I gave up on with the news that TikTok would likely be banned in the US. So whats a gal to do?

3) Let’s go back to blogging:
Here’s where we are at, I am still locked out of IG, TikTok is likely to be banned, so I’ll just be blogging here until I figure this mess out. As always, I apprecieta all the kindness and support. If there’s anything in particular you would like to see on the blog, shoot us an email at info@aleabeauty.co.

Cheers!

A Perfect Start to Shelbea’s Wedding Day with Alea Beauty

A Perfect Start to Shelbea’s Wedding Day with Alea Beauty

Wedding mornings are pure magic, and I have to say, Shelbea’s big day was like something straight out of a dream. On October 26, 2024, she and her bride squad gathered at the gorgeous Cliffside Acres in Springfield, ready to kick off the best day ever. With the serene vibes of the venue and our rockstar team—Rachel, Natalie, and Jessica—on-site, we made sure the day started off on the perfect note.

The morning was such a vibe: mimosas flowing, laughter echoing, and a killer playlist keeping everyone pumped. Nine people—Shelbea, her bridesmaids, and a few VIPs—got the royal treatment with hair and makeup. Shelbea’s vision? Natural glam that looked effortlessly stunning, and let me tell you, we absolutely nailed it. Each look was tailored to perfection, bringing out everyone’s unique beauty while staying cohesive with Shelbea’s fresh and polished aesthetic.

Rachel, Natalie, and Jessica were total pros, and we had such a blast creating a fun, chill atmosphere. The whole process felt like a mini party. From soft, dreamy curls to sleek, modern updos, every hairstyle slayed. And the makeup? Fire. Glowy, fresh-faced looks mixed with just the right touch of glam—we made sure everyone felt like the best version of themselves.

The best part? Everything ran like clockwork. Even with nine people in the chair, there was zero stress and no last-minute rush. We kept the whole morning smooth and organized, leaving plenty of time for selfies, group hugs, and soaking up all the pre-wedding feels.

When it was finally go-time, Shelbea and her crew looked chef’s kiss flawless. Their hair and makeup stayed perfect through emotional vows, golden-hour photos at Cliffside Acres, and an epic dance floor session at the reception. Guests couldn’t stop raving about how stunning everyone looked, even hours into the night.

Shelbea’s wedding morning was everything she dreamed of and more, and we’re so honored to have been part of it. Rachel, Natalie, and Jessica didn’t just create beautiful looks—we made the whole experience one of the highlights of the day. If you’re looking for a glam squad that’ll keep things stress-free, fun, and totally on point, we’ve got you covered.

Here’s to more unforgettable mornings like Shelbea’s—cheers to love, laughter, and flawless looks!

Who Should Set Your Beauty Timeline?

Answer: Your Beauty Team!

The only people who are able to determine how much time hair and makeup will take are your hair and makeup artists. Not a blog, not a planner, not the bride or maid of honor, etc.

Why? Every single beauty professional is going to have their own way of doing things. Some work faster and some slower. There isn’t a one size fits all approach to creating a beauty timeline. Some artists will schedule it out to the minute, others prefer a more go with the flow approach. Interfering with your beauty professionals methods will only cause issues. No one is telling the baker which order to bake the cake in, right? So do not do this to your hair and makeup artists. You hired them for a reason, trust their process.

Before you waste time mapping out a super precise beauty schedule, make sure you consult the people who will actually be responsible for ensuring your wedding party is done on time, the artists! You’ll thank me later, I promise.

Cheers and happy planning!

Hair and Makeup Trends for LGBTQ+ Weddings: Celebrating Love, Authenticity, and Individuality

Weddings are a beautiful celebration of love and commitment, and for LGBTQ+ couples, they hold the additional significance of being a testament to authenticity and individuality. Whether it’s a chic city affair or a rustic countryside celebration, hair and makeup trends for LGBTQ+ weddings reflect the diversity, inclusivity, and personal expression that these unions symbolize.

Here’s a look at some of the top hair and makeup trends shaping LGBTQ+ weddings today.

1. Natural Beauty and Minimalism

More and more couples are leaning toward soft, natural looks that enhance their unique features without overshadowing their personalities. The natural makeup trend—think glowing skin, soft contours, and light blush—is perfect for couples who want to feel like the best versions of themselves on their special day. This look pairs well with loose, textured hairstyles, like soft waves, natural curls, or undone updos, creating an effortless, timeless aesthetic.

Pro Tip: Opt for a light foundation or a tinted moisturizer to let your skin breathe. A subtle highlighter and lip tint complete this look, perfect for couples who want their true selves to shine through.

2. Bold and Androgynous Styles

Some couples embrace an edgier, more gender-fluid approach to wedding beauty. Androgynous haircuts like undercuts, sleek pixies, or short bobs, paired with bold makeup choices such as defined brows, smoky eyes, and daring lip colors, allow individuals to play with traditional gender norms and express themselves freely. This trend is all about blending masculine and feminine energies in a way that feels authentic and true to you.

Pro Tip: To pull off a chic, androgynous vibe, try pairing a sharp haircut with either a minimalist makeup look or go all out with a dramatic eye and lip combo for a high-fashion feel.

3. Gender-Neutral Glam

For those who want to embrace elegance without conforming to traditional masculine or feminine beauty standards, gender-neutral glam is the way to go. This trend focuses on highlighting one’s best features, regardless of gender labels. Skin is kept glowing and fresh, while eyes are emphasized with neutral or metallic tones. Hair can be styled sleek and modern, or with soft waves to maintain a polished yet relaxed vibe.

Pro Tip: Soft metallic eyeshadows like gold, bronze, and champagne flatter all skin tones and can add a touch of glam to your look without being too bold. Keep hair sleek and natural for a look that’s both timeless and chic.

4. Vibrant Colors and Playful Looks

For couples looking to infuse a little more fun and personality into their wedding style, vibrant colors and playful hair and makeup are trending. Whether it’s a pop of color on the eyelids, a statement lip in a bold shade of red, purple, or blue, or even pastel hair colors that match the wedding theme, this look is all about celebrating the joy of the occasion in an unapologetically fun way.

Pro Tip: If you’re going bold with makeup, balance the look with a simpler hairstyle, such as sleek waves or a classic chignon. And if you’re opting for bright, colorful hair, keep your makeup fresh and clean to let your hair steal the show.

5. Classic Elegance with a Twist

Many couples are still drawn to the timeless elegance of traditional wedding beauty but are giving it their own modern twist. Classic Hollywood waves, red lips, and a soft cat eye might be paired with a statement hair accessory like a jeweled headband, floral crown, or even a dramatic veil to create a unique and personalized look. This trend allows you to honor tradition while still showcasing your individuality.

Pro Tip: If you’re opting for classic waves or an elegant chignon, consider adding hairpieces like pearls or crystals to give your look a personalized touch. For makeup, a red lip or soft winged liner never goes out of style.

6. Mix-and-Match Wedding Party Styles

One of the most beautiful aspects of LGBTQ+ weddings is the fluidity in style choices for the wedding party. There’s no need to stick to a traditional uniform look. Instead, many couples allow their wedding party to choose hair and makeup that reflects their own identities and styles. This could mean a mix of bold and natural looks, short and long hair, or even allowing individuals to opt for gender-affirming styles.

Pro Tip: For cohesive photos, give your wedding party a general style guide—such as color palettes or levels of formality—while still allowing everyone to express themselves.

7. Inclusive and Non-Traditional Beauty

As more makeup artists and hairstylists become attuned to the needs of LGBTQ+ couples, inclusive beauty practices are becoming a trend in and of themselves. This includes working with people of all skin tones, hair types, and textures, as well as understanding the needs of transgender, non-binary, and gender-fluid individuals. Whether it’s a hairpiece to accommodate transitioning hair, or makeup that affirms gender identity, couples can now find beauty professionals who understand how to make them feel their best.

Pro Tip: Seek out LGBTQ+-friendly beauty professionals, like Alea Beauty, who are trained and experienced in working with diverse clients.

LGBTQ+ weddings are about love, freedom, and self-expression, and the hair and makeup trends seen at these celebrations reflect that beautifully. Whether you’re opting for a natural look, bold statement makeup, or something entirely unique, the most important thing is to choose styles that make you feel confident, radiant, and authentically you on your special day.

When planning your wedding beauty, embrace your individuality, break the rules, and celebrate love in all its forms. After all, that’s what your day is all about!

1. Non-Traditional Wedding Parties and Elopements:

Your love story is unique, and so should be your wedding celebration. In 2024, the trend leans towards non-traditional setups, embracing intimate elopements and gatherings that reflect the depth of your connection. 2. Destination Weddings:

Why not let your love story unfold against the backdrop of a breathtaking destination? This year, more couples are opting for the magic of destination weddings.  We suggest choosing a location that resonates with your story, creating an immersive experience for both you and your guests. Imagine saying your vows with the sound of waves crashing or against the majestic backdrop of mountains – the possibilities are as boundless as your love.

3. Interactive Guest Activities:

Make your wedding a canvas for shared memories by incorporating interactive guest activities. From personalized guest books to lively photo booths, we encourage couples to infuse their personalities into every detail. These activities not only create lasting memories but also foster a sense of connection among your guests.

4. Flash Photography:

Capture the essence of the moment with the dramatic flair of flash photography. In 2024, couples are opting for bold, artistic shots that vividly express the emotions of the day. Work closely with your photographer and enhance those moments with creative lighting, adding a touch of glamour to your wedding album.

5. Retro Sunglasses:

For a playful touch with a hint of nostalgia, consider rocking retro sunglasses on your special day. Practical yet stylish, this accessory adds a fun element to your wedding ensemble. We suggest choosing sunglasses that resonate with your wedding theme, creating a trendy and memorable look that perfectly complements your style.

6. Wedding Ponytails:

Elegance meets simplicity with the resurgence of wedding ponytails. In 2024, brides are opting for chic and modern ponytail hairstyles that radiate sophistication. Let Alea Beauty guide you through experimenting with textures, accessories, and placements, finding the perfect wedding ponytail that complements your unique bridal look.

7. Single-Tone Eye Makeup:

For a timeless and elegant bridal look, embrace the simplicity of single-tone eye makeup. 2024 celebrates subtle yet impactful eye looks that enhance your natural beauty. Alea Beauty recommends selecting a single eyeshadow shade that harmonizes with your overall color palette, creating a soft and sophisticated gaze that will be etched in your memories forever.
